HERITAGE: Trilla Performs His Bassline Smash, "Etap Riddim", At Club Niche In Sheffield (2009)

Although there's a healthy surge of 4x4 thump right now, in 2009 bassline was doing a roaring trade thanks to heroes like Trilla and his ilk. What makes bassline so special is it's one of the few examples of London and the rest of the country following the North's lead.

Clubs like Niche in Sheffield, where today's Heritage was filmed, were the epicentre of a riotous, hedonistic movement centred around rapid-fire bass and adrenaline-fuelled lyrics. "Etap" — one of Trilla's signature anthems alongside "Who Are Ya?!" — was a massive hit in raves across the Midlands and the North, guaranteed to send any crowd into a frenzy. That was over a decade ago, but make no mistake, Trilla's still a force to be reckoned with.
