Tiggs Da Author Calls On Nines For Debut Album Extract "Fly 'Em High"

February 08, 2021

Smooth and stylish hitmaker Tiggs Da Author is back with a new tune — "Fly 'Em High" with Nines — and news of his debut album, Blame It On The Youts.

Although Tiggs dropped the MOREFIRE project in 2019, that was more of a primer mixtape, whereas Blame It On The Youts is the main event. The upcoming album, he says, will feature some of his most personal work to date, detailing his upbringing and his move from Tanzania to the UK, all rendered through his blend of Afrobeats, jazz and soul.

Produced by Show N Prove, the new team-up sets Tiggs' soaring vocals and Nines' laid-back, street-smart bars against a boldly colourful backdrop of rolling drum patterns and silky synth melodies. As Tiggs says below, the pair have been working together for some time and this is a shining example of their chemistry together.

"Myself and Nines have been working together since around 2015," Tiggs explained. "Since then we've just been making back to back bangers! We have good chemistry, so it makes everything easier. This song speaks for itself, has a nice vibe and as always, is a little different. We don't try to recreate. This is one of the pockets we haven't explored before."

Taken from Tiggs' upcoming album Blame It On The Youts, which is due March 12.

Updated on February 24: the official video has now been released.
