Knucks, Kojey Radical, Ghetts And Akala Join Swindle For Jazzy "Blow Ya Trumpet"

September 01, 2021

South London producer Swindle continues to deliver doses of his upcoming album, The New World, following genre-bending tracks like "Darkest Hour" featuring the honeyed tones Poppy Ajudha and Daley, "Lost" with Loyle Carner, JNR Williams and Kojey Radical. This time the jazz-minded polymath returns with an all-star lineup of the UK's top rhymers, Akala, Knucks, Ghetts and Kojey Radical, bringing another round of heat for "Blow Ya Trumpet".

Opening with a sweltering horn section, Knucks christens the track with his verse over a sliding bass groove before the rest of the MCs follow suit. For each new rapper that steps in, subtle tweaks and enhancements are made to the production to adjust their style, cleverly sidestepping any chance of predictability or repetition. There's no lyrical hook per se, so Swindle instead uses a recurring instrumental motif to tie together each rhymer's animated verses as they spit bar for bar like their lives depended on it.

Ahead of The New World's release on October 29, tap in to "Blow Ya Trumpet" below.
