HERITAGE: Akala Delivers His Second Instalment Of Thought-Provoking Rhymes In This 'Fire In The Booth' Freestyle (2012)

May 29, 2020

Returning for his second of four Fire In The Booth sessions (and there's not many can say that), a fresh-faced Akala stepped up in 2012 and still left us all wanting more.

The whole 14-minute session is an inspiring (and educational) showing that once again demonstrates a phenomenal understanding of history, politics, sociology, philosophy and more. He may namecheck outspoken, politically-minded comics like Bill Hicks and George Carlin, but this is a cut above that and far more relevant to British ears.

Eight years may seem like a lifetime ago — especially given how long this year has felt — but some of the issues he goes into are more relevant today than they've ever been, not least cultural appropriation/tourism and racist police policies.
