Potter Payper Levels Up On Debut Album 'Real Back In Style'

May 12, 2023

Potter Payper has today dropped his debut studio album Real Back In Style.

For over 10 years he's told tales from the roads with spirit and clarity, painting pictures of his life growing up in Essex's underbelly, but there's an elevated level of production on this album that boosts Payper to a different level. Combined, it's a textured, high-quality soundscape that comes from an A-list team of producers including Harry Fraud, Chucks, Quincy, R14, GX, 169, Jason Julian, Kyle Evans, emil, KZ, Aaronorage, EY, Age, Harry Beech, Kieran Nash, Fumes Beats, Westy, and Joe Stanley.

Offering a perspective that's just as gritty, just as honest as any other version of Potter, this time round he's more reflective and observant than before. What's more, his voice is the only one we hear from on Real Back In Style—there are no features on the 15-track album. Instead, Potter uses the space to give intensely personal accounts of poverty, social exclusion, and a nagging lack of self-worth.

With Crop Circle 2 from Nines dropping only last Friday, it seems that real, elite-level road rap, is indeed back in style.
