Taking a different tack from the usual seductive slow jams that always land around Valentine's Day, Hackney-raised singer-songwriter Mychelle narrates the story of a breakup on her latest soul-driven single titled "Hurts".

Directed by Thea Gajic, we witness the unravelling of a relationship from the corner of the kitchen in a cosy home. As the connection grows sour, the protagonist finds comfort in her loving group of friends who support her as she finds her feet after the breakup. Mychelle and producer Hugo construct a delicate soundscape of electric guitars and brushed hi-hats that surround the richness of the main vocal line.

Speaking on the track's process, she comments, "This song came together during my first session with Hugo. I really enjoyed working with him as he was able to draw out the indie sounds that I like. Having played guitar and been a busker for years, I've always enjoyed mixing the guitar vibes of folk and indie music with soul and R&B".

"Hurts" begins a new chapter of emotionally-driven sounds from Mychelle who had an incredible season of releases last year with the Someone Who Knows EP, which featured Enny on the soulful "Forbidden Fruit". Settle into this new track below.
