It's Family Over Everything For LayFullStop On New Drop "Family Affair"

October 31, 2022

LayFullStop has been warming our souls with her jazz-laced offerings this autumn season and her latest brew, "Family Affair", is all about connecting with those that mean the most.

It's another self-produced moment from the Manchester-based artist who works with a number of styles built over a foundation of shimmering jazz. Her delivery is pristine as she flows with effortless rhymes that give way to her stacked harmonies, sending butterflies straight to the listener's gut. Aim Films bring the track to the screen as we get to experience Lay's laid-back manner while she candidly strolls around her hometown.

Speaking on the song's creation, she explains: "Initially I had created this song as a vibe and outpour of not just my family (being Jamaican), but other family stories that felt like mine growing up. However I really love the simplicity that this song gives which to be honest, I've really missed in my creativity, as I do love a good harmony stack and the idea of 'busy art'. I think this is a good reflection of my current mindset, keeping things simple and prioritising the things that are important to me: God, Family, and everything else as it comes."

Lay previously handed over her meditations on morality over a Bossa Nova groove on "Act Right" which you can spin right after you hit play below.
