Kwengface & Dusty Locane "Step Out" On Rugged New Drill Heater

May 27, 2022

Building on the recent trend for transatlantic link-ups including Giggs and Rowdy Rebel on "Differences" and Digga D's link-up with Moneybagg Yo on "G Lock", we're now presented with a team-up between Peckham's Kwengface and Brooklyn driller Dusty Locane for "Step Out".

Producer Gotcha crafts a mid-tempo beat that's slightly slower than the usual fare, but still rages with the usual drill fury. With that in place, Kwengface slides on the production with a smooth introduction to his well-constructed hook before making way for Dusty Locane. The BK rhymer is cool, calm and collected in his delivery and his bars are as razor-sharp as anything Kweng can conjure.

Speaking on the creation of the track he says, "What I like most about "Step Out" is that it happened in a really authentic way. I met Dusty, we clicked straight away, and then the next day we got in the booth. I did have a feeling we might connect so I started writing a few bars beforehand, but I left some space for him and he filled it out nicely. We bounced off each other's energy so well, and the track shows the contrast in nationalities, whilst still showing that UK drill and US drill are in-sync and can complement each other."
