Kamakaze And Deuce Sparks Compete For Employee Of The Month In "Time It Took" Video

May 27, 2021

After a successful 2020, Kamakaze continues to push forward with his bouncy combination of grime, garage and UK rap. The last few years have been huge for the Leicester don, but this year looks set to be his biggest yet because he's just announced the release of his upcoming EP, Wavey Shirt Wednesday 2, along with visuals for its first single, "Time It Took" with fellow Leicester rhymer Deuce Sparks.

Both MCs splurge their playful hooks over the Ted Loco-produced beat with the footballer-turned-rapper boastfully chanting, "What genres haven't I merged?" — a possible nod to the styles and topics he experiments with on the new EP. The second half of the track belongs to Deuce Sparks who graces it with a flurry of catchy bars and a laid-back flow that nicely complements Kamakaze's own.

The accompanying video from director Gugzay opens with a vignette of the two rappers working at an arcade but instead of locking up for the day, they skive off to play some of the games with their mates. The crafty visuals were filmed with a fisheye lens to heighten the playfulness of the overall experience.

Wavey Shirt Wednesday 2 arrives June 30. While you wait, press play on "Time It Took" below.
