Dexter Unpacks Her Adolescent Adventures On Second EP 'Fortune Cookie'

October 03, 2022

Following last year's I Do Love A Good Sandwich EP, which neatly surfed through indie-pop territory, South London's dexter returns with more relatable tales of teenage angst on her latest collection Fortune Cookie.

The new EP arrives after tea "Something Real", "Vexed" and "Pressure", each of them experimenting with alternative, garage-inspired rhythms crafted by Kurisu and RISC. The project includes three extra tracks where dexter delivers bittersweet goodbyes to old friends and to lackluster connections she's made to avoid being alone.

Although she expresses raw emotions across the six tracks, there is a clear evolution of sound that bobs between mellow, mid-tempo rhythms and a supple guitar moment in the closing track "Play Pretend". Fortune Cookie is ridden with sweet nostalgia yet it's an opportunity to hear the alt-pop talent like never before, tune in below.
