XL Recordings Boss Richard Russell Calls On Aitch And Infinite Coles For Twisted Funk-Rap Cut "12:12AM/Patients"

February 06, 2020

For the past few years, XL Recordings boss and founder Richard Russell has been pursuing a collaborative project called Everything Is Recorded in which he teams up with various rappers, singers, musicians and producers to create a series of tracks that give us a peek at a different side to some of our favourite artists. 2018 gave us the first batch of tracks with a list of features that included the likes of Sampha, Kamasi Washington and Giggs.

Last week he gave us "10:51PM / The Night" with Berwyn, Maria Somerville and Infinite Coles (the first in a new collection which will hopefully be revealed in full very soon) and now he's back with the next offering, "12:12AM / Patients (Fucking Up A Friday)" that features Aitch and another appearance from Coles.

Although the track seemingly came out of nowhere, the real surprise is what Russell's twisted, distorted funk jam brings out of the Manchester rhymer. Pitting Aitch against a constantly twisting and turning instrumental, Russell forces him to use all the lyrical tricks up his sleeve to fit into the unpredictable pockets in the beat.

Check it out below.
