Wretch 32 Reveals Stunning 'little BIG Man' EP f/ SL, Blade Brown, Nafe Smallz And More

Creatively speaking, the last few years have seen Wretch 32 at the height of his considerable powers. We've had 2019's Upon Reflection album, the Rapthology: Lessons In Life & Lyric book, a CBD store in Boxpark Shoreditch, and then of course he was named Creative Director at the newly minted 0207 Def Jam.

Fortunately, he's also been back in the studio. First came the surprise "3 Minute Silence" and then, almost immediately after, Wretch dropped off the little BIG Man EP as well as a short film of the same name. Broadly speaking, it tells the story of a young man coming out of prison and doing his best to navigate his newfound freedom. As ever, it's thoughtfully laid out and brings to life the nuances and humanity that are all too often left by the wayside.

"I was trying to put myself in a 17-year-old's body and trying to see how they feel," Wretch says of the EP's narrative arc. "How does it feel to come out of prison at that age? What struggles do I face? As a senior, I'm seeing a pattern and a cycle and this was about me trying to understand their experiences."

At nine tracks it's a short and sweet project, but it's one of his most collaborative yet. The stacked tracklist includes features from K-Trap, Nafe Smallz, Tiggs Da Author, Kayy Kayy, Blade Brown, M Huncho and SL with additional contributions from Little Simz and Henrie Kwushue.
