Wiley Delivers One-Two Punch With New Freestyle And New Single "Flick In The Air"

January 13, 2020

It's been a hectic week in the grime scene. Much has been written about the fast-moving war between Wiley and Stormzy, but as we roll into a new week it seems the dust has settled.

As you might already be aware, Wiley's Godfather 3 is supposedly imminent and if these two new drops are any indication, it appears he's back in album mode — at least until the next thing sets him off.

First out the gate was "The Game" freestyle, a quick, no-frills lyrical workout packed with the kind of energy we all hope to see on the new album and a clean-and-simple video to boot. At times you could be forgiven this was a new war dub, albeit with no specific target in mind — although telling us he couldn't care if you did adverts for Ladbrokes or Diesel might suggest otherwise.

After that post-war palate-cleanser came his new single, "Flick In The Air", a somewhat surprising offering from Wiley given its booming, drill-tinged production. However, the flow he applies to the speaker-rattling production is still pure grime through and through. Regardless, it'll be interesting to see how this new single sits on the album, or if it'll appear at all.

Tune into both below.
