Venna Calls On Knucks To Assist On Jazz-Tinted Rap Debut "Standard"

July 01, 2021

After Venna lent his mesmerising saxophone trills on Knucks' track "Standout", the pair link up once again for the producer and saxophonist's mellow debut solo release, "Standard". This follows his work with J Hus, Wizkid, and his Grammy nominated contributions to Burna Boy's African Giant album, so it's only right that he finally makes his stamp as a solo entity.

Over a bed of hazy saxophone fillers and chopped lo-fi-type beats, Knucks lures us in with his soft-spoken rap tone as he paints a picture of a sun-filled city where there is barely a care in the world. The accompanying visuals follows both musicians with friends on a casual day out and flitters between them playing ball and Knucks romancing a lover.

"Standard" is set to appear in Venna's forthcoming EP, Venology, which will show us another layer to the creative's jazz-influenced world of modern UK rap. While we wait for Venna's debut project, catch a glimpse of his dream-like world with "Standard" below.
