To Celebrate Bandcamp's Fee-Waiving Day Here's A List Of Black-Owned Record Labels That Deserve Your Support

June 05, 2020

Last Friday, Bandcamp ran a special event that saw them waive their customary fee for the day, which mean 100% of sales went straight to the artist or label that owned the page. Bandcamp has always been celebrated for their business model and for being one of the most profitable platforms for musicians.

Since then they announced the offer would be a regular, weekly arrangement running each Friday. With that in mind, we thought it essential to use this opportunity to drive as much business towards as many Black-owned record labels as we can.

Leading the charge is photographer, DJ, graphic artist and radio host Kristopher Rahim Afful-Brown of Reprezent, ItalDred and Kenyon Sound fame who has put together an extensive list of Black-owned record labels and artists so that we can all pledge our support and buy up as much amazing music as possible.

The list — which you can find here — covers all sorts of genres from around the world. Every genre and taste is covered here; UK garage, Jersey Club, Detroit techno, grime, dancehall, house music, R&B and more. So it shouldn't take you long to empty your bank account.
