Tia Carys Gets Candid On Soul-Baring "Intro"

September 30, 2020

West London rapper Tia Carys continues to make her presence known with new track "Intro", an unfettered celebration of her truth.

Complete with moving lyrics and piercing rhyme schemes, Tia Carys addresses societal prejudices toward sexuality in classy fashion. Over a mellow WAVSDNTDIE instrumental interwoven with emotive and elegant violins, Tia unapologetically lays bare her true being. Sending a strong message of acceptance, the visuals amplify rather than distract from her message with theatrical strobe-lights to underline her important monologue.

So tell me really what makes me and you so different? she asks. Was it no sex before marriage in the commandments / Ha yeah guess you're a sinner too, she adds, attacking the irony and hypocrisy of it all, while reconciling the teachings of her religion with the reality of human nature. With profound words, "Intro" is a revealing tale of self-discovery in the search for happiness, which after all is something we're all entitled to.

"Intro" is taken from Tia Carys' new EP, EnRoot, due to drop October 30. Hit play on the visuals below.
