There's No Place Like Home, Says Ama Lou On "Northside"

October 03, 2019

21-year-old Londoner Ama Lou is back with the effortlessly stylish video for her new single "Northside". Written as much for herself as anyone else, she explains below that "Northside" is a reminder and celebration of the town she calls home, no matter how far her travels may take her. Directed by Ama Lou's older sister and collaborator, Mahalia John, the video tracks Ama and her friends having fun on a shoot, with one or two cameos from Odd Future's Taco, A$AP Nast and model Fai Khadra.

The singer revealed her inspiration behind the song and stated in a recent interview: "I wrote the song after experiencing a personal homecoming last year... I travel a lot and live bicoastal, so spending a lot of time living in LA, I felt a little out of place coming back to the UK, but that feeling was quickly overrun by the satisfying feeling of knowing that I'm from North London, this is my town and it always will be."
