The Streets Join Us In Wondering "Where The F*ck Did April Go"?

May 13, 2020

Mike Skinner's on a roll right now — which is something to be truly grateful for given everything we've been subjected to in the past couple of months. On that note, his late single "Where The Fuck Did April Go" gets right down to that very subject in a way only The Streets can, summing up the mood of the country with razor sharp lyrics and bone-dry wit.

As the world around us gets all the more confusing, Skinner takes aim at the superficial 'we're all in this together' platitudes extended by airlines (Try and say that when your suitcase weighs three kilos over, he points out over the garage-tinged beat). It's not all doom and gloom though and he does his best to find the positives in it all with advice like Do you a favour, use these days to read and grow and learn, which in true Streets fashion he balances with quips about everyone pretending to be models and DJs or, in his case, soldiers on Call Of Duty.

Speaking on the track, Mike Skinner commented, "I wrote this last week. It's a weird time isn't it. We were looking forward to the summer just like everyone else, festivals and gigs all there, new music, new stage set — but this has taken the wind from everyone's sails. And none of us know quite how to cope with it all. I just wrote a tune the same way other people might talk to a therapist!"

The new tune arrives as the latest in the batch of singles leading up to his new project None Of Us Are Getting Out Of This Life Alive, which is slated to arrive July 10.
