Tamera Oozes Sensuality On Long-Awaited Debut EP 'Afrodite'

November 22, 2021

Following a strong run of sultry singles, London-based singer songwriter Tamera looks to a Greek goddess for inspiration on her debut project 'Afrodite". With production from P2J, Tamera invites us into her universe filled with feminine energy, agile vocal riffs, mesmerising melodies, romance and vulnerability over a backdrop of West African and R&B influences.

Previously released opener "Wickedest" sets the tone for a five-track project that celebrates sexual liberation with rhythm and vibes. "Good Love" featuring Tay Iwar is another sensual offering, but "New Hobby" sees her shift gears into a delicate, spoken-rap style before serenading listeners again with her buttery vocals. On the songwriting side, things take a turn as Tamera shares a more vulnerable side to herself in "Strong For Me", a plea for someone to be as strong for her as she is for everyone else.

Sharing her thoughts on the project, Tamera says: "'Afrodite' stems from the word 'Aphrodite', who is the Goddess of love, beauty, pleasure and passion in Greek mythology. It's such a fitting title as my project was born from passion, love, goddess energy, but it's also a subtle nod to my Greek heritage. I used 'Afrodite' because I'm also an African woman and the predominant sonics of the project are heavily influenced by African culture. The mix of the two create a perfect blend of passion, vulnerability, fearlessness, sass, brutal honesty and vim."
