Leicester's Strizzy Strauss Keeps The Spirit Of Classic Hip-Hop Alive On Jazz-Tinted "Hieroglyfics"

Leicester rapper Strizzy Strauss is a keen student of rap history and that's something that becomes immediately clear the second his new single "Hieroglyfics" and its boom bap drums from producer Sik Sense come punching out of the speaker.

Since the release of his debut EP, The Art Of Summarising Life, he's found himself sharing stages with titans like GZA, Pharoahe Monch, Rodney P, Klashnekoff and Skinnyman; and now he's ready to release his debut album Trust The Process (due in the second half of July).

He first signalled the project's arrival with the release of "Who Am I" with Vandal Savage in March and now the album's second single "Hieroglyfics" (and its straight-to-the-point visuals from We The Conspirators), is here to maintain the hype.

Wearing his accent proudly on his sleeve, Strauss brings the classic boom bap hallmarks — punchy drum patterns, slow-and-steady rhythms and a twinkling piano melody — firmly into 21st century Britain.
