Stormzy Makes A Bold, Cinematic Return With All-Star "Mel Made Me Do It" Visual

It's been around three years since we've heard directly from Stormzy but he's made an epic return with "Mel Made Me Do It"—a stunning reminder of his luminary status.

The production is a straight-to-the-point affair handled by Knox Brown with traces of choir chimes, firm 808s, and oscillating melodies that remain unchanged for the entire seven-minute duration. Loaded with sharp-tongued wordplay, he packs it with fancy footwork, rearranging vowels and phrases, to remind us of his seasoned technicality. UK dancehall gem Stylo G steps in for a brief verse while Michaela Coel delivers a profound monologue written by Wretch 32.

Running just shy of 11 minutes, KLVDR directs the cinematic visuals hosting an assortment of legends within the sports, music, and entertainment industries. The visual's packed with visual references and Easter Eggs; even the title is a nod to his long-running stylist and friend Melanie, a creative with her own massive following.

It's a profound moment of reverence for those that continue to pave the way and define what it means to sustain and champion Black British culture, media and sport. Cameos from British R&B icon Gabrielle, Usain Bolt, Julie Adenuga, Zeze Millz, members of No Signal, Malorie Blackman, Tiana Major 9, Dave, Little Simz, Mega-Man, Trevor Nelson, Jazzie B, and many others grace our screens.

"Mel Made Me Do It" will be remembered as a brilliant piece of art and you can check out below.
