South London Singer DWY Is Trying To Get Over An Unrequited Love On "Everytime I See You Again"

August 07, 2019

Unrequited love can be a painful experience and one that's usually only solved by getting over those feelings and moving on. Dwelling on them and deluding yourself seldom ends well.

On his soulful new single, "Everytime I See You Again", South London soul singer DWY seems acutely aware of that. The softly-sung yet tortured vocals tell of the singer doing everything he can to avoid an old friend he had feelings for, not out of resentment, but because simply seeing the person plunges him right back, undoing everything he went through to get over them in the first place.

Speaking on the track, DWY explained it's "about a friend I always had unresolved feelings for; we always kind of had a vibe with each other, but something always seemed to be in the way. Every time I'd see her years later, I'd go back to that place. It's about how time doesn't always change things."
