South London Rapper And Film Buff Temz Clipstar Makes His Debut With Bittersweet "Down"

Peckham-born rapper Temz Clipstar has just released his official debut single, "Down". Inspired by his two passions — hip-hop and film — the new track takes its sonic influences from the likes of Giggs, while his lyrics draw on his love of romantic comedies (with some personal experience thrown in for good measure). Production comes from his long-time collaborator Fergus Martin and is capped off with smooth, hypnotic vocals by Clipstar for an experimental, mind-bending piece of hip-hop.

Temz commented on track, saying: "'Down' is inspired by my love for rom-coms combined with a personal love experience. We all have our own individual missions to complete. 'Down' asks the girl in question if she still wants to be with me after I've laid all my cards on the table and she realises just how difficult my personal mission is going to be. Would she be down through the lows as well as the highs? Though the message is quite sombre, the beat is intentionally something you can move your feet to. In life, you've got to take the good with the bad and it was important for me to convey that message somehow in this song."
