South London R&B Singer Emira Explores Romantic Turmoil On Stunning Debut EP 'Midnight Request'

August 08, 2019

Following on from the release of her first two singles, "Better Off" and "Hold On", South London vocalist Emira has just released her debut EP, Midnight Request.

Beginning with the half-time R&G vibes of the opener, each of the four tracks see Emira combine her voice with dramatic, club-adjacent productions filled with tension and emotion. Thematically, the EP explores the emotional turbulence surrounding a difficult relationship, resolving it with a sense that she's regaining control of her life.

Speaking on the concepts behind the album, Emira explained: "Each song exemplifies the range of feelings during a relationship and the power to grow as things fall apart. Being comfortable with being uncomfortable, I think we all have that voice in our heads that prevents us from saying 'enough is enough' and this EP sonically and lyrically demonstrates that exact feeling."
