Skepta & Ryder's '48 Hours' EP Is The Ambient-Rap We Need In Our Lives

November 27, 2023

Hull-based producer Ryder has linked up with Skepta to release a new project titled 48 Hours. This unexpected link-up has turned the spotlight onto Ryder and given Skeppy a whole new ambient, solemn sound to flex on.

Having created the #skeptacore trend and sound with his refixes of Skepta's vintage verses and freestyles over his bespoke production, Ryder was then given the ultimate co-sign: a chance to record with the Tottenham legend across 48 hours—resulting in this 5-track project which includes new material from Skep on the first two songs and vocals from UK singer/songwriter Dré Six.

This is a left-field but very welcome return to rap for Skepta, who has been killing it in every creative field he's tried his hand in the last year or so. Visual art, house music and high fashion (plus his directorial debut with the film Tribal Marks due for release in 2024), Mr. Adenuga has been super-busy but we're glad he had time for this project.

Press play on the 48 Hours EP (and the visuals for "All Alone") below.
