Shakka Returns To Add A Touch Of Drill To His R&B Sound On "When You Pull Up"

February 04, 2021

After nearly a decade in the game, R&B charmer Shakka is finally ready to release his debut album. It's early days and details remain scarce for now, but we do have at least have the first taste of the project with his latest single "When You Pull Up".

He may be an accomplished, Grammy-nominated songwriter, but this new one sees him use his voice more as an instrument, describing it as "a song about love without words. A song about a girl, who assumed I didn't know how to provide or handle real love. Marrying the attitude of drill, with the romance of R&B, all in time for Valentine's Day." The influence of drill on the self-produced instrumental is subtle but it's plain to hear in the punchy rhythms and sliding bass.

To mark the single's release, Shakka's teamed up with Ray Fiasco and the Silq team for some seductively-lit visuals that follow our infatuated protagonist as he and the girl of his dreams succumb to their wildest desires.

Silky smooth and guaranteed to do the trick on February 14, hit play below.
