Scribz Riley's New Single "Mandy" Finds Peace In The Midst Of Heartbreak

Up until recently, Scribz Riley had just two songs to his name and yet the impact he's made this year has been astounding, racking up millions of streams and two Grammy Awards. Much of the groundwork for his storming run of success was laid behind the scenes, working with everyone from J Hus to Cardi B as a producer and songwriter, but it's as a solo artist that he's really shining.

Case in point, his third single "Mandy", a stirring piece of soul that taps directly into his Nigerian roots with bumpy Afrobeats rhythms to guide the track along. Exploring the crushing realisation that a once cherished relationship is coming to an end, the video sees Scribz and his titular lover gradually coming to terms with the inevitable and, surprisingly enough, finding a degree of peace in it all.

Explaining how the track came together, he said, "I wrote the track in LA and finished it in London. It was a quick freestyle and took me 40 minutes to write, which is really quick for me. The song is about getting to that place in a relationship, where as much as you still love that person, you can feel it's coming to an end. Sonically, I didn't want the song to feel sad, I wanted it to reflect that moment of acceptance. As much as it is a sad time, you know it's the right thing do, so might as well turn up and move on."
