Scratcha DVA, aka Scratchclart, has been pretty busy this year, even by his prolific standards. Between festival appearances, radio sets and a steady stream of live shows, he's also been hard at work compiling the Crash Riddim collection.

The new project sees Scratch take one instrumental, "Crash Riddim", and hand it out to 18 of the best MCs in his contact list. It's an incredible list of vocalists he's managed to get hold of (some with greater ease than others), including Mez, Trim, Durrty Goodz, Manga Saint Hilare, Jammz, Logan, Yung Saber, Mista Silva, Riddz, Doller, Dizzle Kid, Shade1, Bryte, Toya Delazy, Roses Gabor, Samito, and Mfumfanakagogo. On top of all of that, he's also called on South African producer Worst Behaviour to reshape the original into searing gqom remix.

Crash Riddim taps into the long-running dancehall tradition of having different MCs take turns putting their own spin on the same instrumental, reframing it and adding wildly different energies. Even though he's applied that same approach to UK and South African artists, the end result is the same, drawing new and surprising sides out of both the track and the vocalist.
