Scratcha DVA And Grandmixxer Combine For Genre-Crossing Tour De Force 'Mixx & Scratch'

With years and years of experience in the game, Scratcha DVA and Grandmixxer are two of the most universally respected producers going. New school and olders alike hold both producers up as being influential masters entirely in their own lane.

Recently, in time for Bandcamp's no-fee day last week, the pair put their heads together for a new four-track EP, Mixx & Scratch, released exclusively on the site. As you might expect, all four tracks inside play havoc with genre-boundaries.

The "Free Gaza" remix opens with a minimalist, lurching rhythm peppered with intricate drum patterns; "Nastiest" takes that a step further, taking classic grime sounds and mixing them with atmospheric grandeur; "Gabba", meanwhile, has a bouncy UK funky rhythm to it, but also flirts with more classic rave tropes; and then there's closing track "Narco" that buzzes and whirs like the post-club afterglow, weightless yet still simmering with a primal rave energy.

Tying it all together is the pair's deep creative connection and you can hear from start to finish how much fun the pair had making it.
