Sampha continues his 2023 victory lap with the release of the video for "Can't Go Back". One of many standout tracks from his recently released album Lahai, his first full-length in six long years.

kwes, El Guincho, and Sampha himself produced the instrumental and they've created a rich tapestry of sounds and feelings that blend into a beautiful and moving beat. His lyrics, meanwhile, dive headlong into the big questions that face us all, grappling with the pain and joy of loss and existence all at once.

Directed by Saad Moosjajee, the video depicts Sampha in an aesthetic that matches the track. Bringing the brilliantly abstract track into the visual realm is no easy feat but Moosjajee pulls it off with flair, using switch-ups in the animation and editing to mirror the about-turns and dramatic shifts in the production.
