Samm Henshaw Announces Debut Album With "Still Broke"

May 17, 2021

It's been a long time coming, but soul singer Samm Henshaw has announced that his debut album, Untidy Soul, is officially complete and that it'll see the light of day very soon.

Ahead of the album drop, Henshaw also dropped off new single, "Still Broke", to get us primed for the main event. The new track, which features jazz trumpeter Keyon Harrold, arrived this weekend and comes with some luxurious visuals courtesy of director Jim Pilling.

It's the first episode in a series of videos from Henshaw, each inspired by Donald Glover's Atlanta, carrying the spirt of a lot of the music Glover's known for and tying it into Henshaw's classic funk and soul-inspired sound.

Speaking in more detail about the album and its title, Henshaw commented: "The music I make has never felt nice and clean or like conventional soul music — it's messy, because I can be quite a scatterbrain and usually have a million different things going through my head at once."

While we wait on more details about the album, including the release date, tune into "Still Broke" below.
