S1 Bridges The Gap Between His Rap And Drill Output On 'Split Personality'

August 24, 2020

Standing tall in a week of blockbuster releases, West London's S1 dropped his debut mixtape Split Personality. The young rapper's had a rocky road to where he is today, but despite describing himself as 'most hated', this debut project sees him work with some of the best and brightest from the worlds of rap and drill.

Features on the tape come from Skengdo, Peter Xan, Lil MDot and YvDaghost. Meanwhile, production comes from Chuck, Gibbo, Lock, Chris Rich Beats, Pluto, and the mastermind behind BackRoad Gee's Mukta Vs. Mukta, Finn Wigan.

As the title suggests, the mixtape can be roughly split down the middle, balancing light and colourful rap cuts like "How I Feel", "Rockstar Diva" and "Real Pain" against darker, harder-hitting drill efforts like "No Way", "Demon" and "Impress". The end result is a project that bridges the gap between the drill he cut his teeth on and the more melodic rap sounds he explores today.
