Peckham's Rye Wax Launches Mentorship Scheme For Young People Aged 18-25

April 05, 2023

Rye Wax, Peckham's famed record shop and music venue, is launching a new youth mentorship scheme.

Supported by Arts Council England, the programme is aimed at young people between the ages of 18 and 25 that are looking to develop their skills in everything from electronic live performance to production.

Those taking part in the programme will be paired up with a mentor for the three-month span. Each of the mentors will be Rye Wax affiliates—including Medlar, FYI Chris, and J.O.S.H.U.A—who will offer their wisdom to the mentees over the course of three sessions.

Applications close on April 10 at 9am. Rye Wax are particularly keen to hear from "QTIBPOC / global majority, disabled and other groups underrepresented in the music industry". Full info on how to apply, dates of the sessions, and the mentors can be found on the Rye Wax website.

Although Rye Wax sadly remains closed due to the effects of the global pandemic, there are plans for the beloved venue to return imminently.
