Launched in partnership with Afro Nation Festival, this weekend will see the launch of the first Official UK Afrobeats Chart in recognition of the genre's undeniable influence on UK music.

The new weekly rundown will kick off with a special edition show on BBC Radio 1Xtra with The Official UK Afrobeats Show on Sunday, July 26 from 1pm-3pm. The one-off show will be hosted by Eddie Kadi, Shopsy Doo, DJ P Montana, and Danai Mavunga.

The Top 20 charts will give a weekly rundown of the biggest Afrobeats songs in the UK and will be updated every Sunday at 2pm, with the full chart published on OfficialCharts.com. The chart will take into account physical sales, downloads, audio streams and video streams from the UK, compiled using data from over 9,000 outlets.

Commenting on the news, Danai Mavunga said: "Africa is the heartbeat of this entire world and has been influencing pop culture for centuries. This moment is long overdue and I'm super excited to see how far we go from here."
