North London Saxophonist Nubya Garcia Steps Back From The Overwhelming Modern World On "Pace"

May 28, 2020

For the past few years, saxophonist and NTS resident Nubya Garcia has played a pivotal role in the reinvigoration of the jazz world. In 2018 alone she dropped the Nubya's 5ive EP and appeared on five of the nine tracks on the landmark We Out Here compilation.

Now she's back with her new single "Pace" and it's a well-timed antidote to the intensity of modern life that can often leave us feeling, "very isolated and disconnected from ourselves and each other," she said in the accompanying statement. She went on to encourage us to "think on what makes each of us joyful, what things we personally reach towards to feel grounded."

Rounding out the instrumentation, which simultaneously mimics the overwhelming chaos are bandmates bandmates Joe Armon-Jones on keys, Daniel Casimir on double bass, and Sam Jones on drums.

Frankly, this didn't arrive a moment too soon.
