Novelist, Jorja Smith, Lily Allen And Sons Of Kemet Have Made The Mercury Prize Shortlist

July 26, 2018

It's that time of year again. The 2018 Hyundai Mercury Prize shortlist announced and, while some of the entries are to be expected (Noel Gallagher, Florence & The Machine, etc.), there are a few you may want to back.

Of the shortlist (which we're told was compiled by a mix of independent industry figures, musicians, journalists, broadcasters and DJs), Novelist's Novelist Guy, Lily Allen's No Shame, King Krule's The OOZ, Sons Of Kemet's Lost & Found and, of course, Jorja Smith's Lost & Found all made it on to the list.

Chances are no one's going to be completely happy with the list (that would be an impossible achievement), but it is encouraging that the likes of Novelist and Sons Of Kemet are getting a look in this year.

Check the full list below. Now fire away with those thinkpieces.

Arctic Monkeys – Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino
Everything Everything – A Fever Dream
Everything Is Recorded – Everything Is Recorded
Florence + The Machine – High As Hope
Jorja Smith – Lost & Found
King Krule – The Ooz
Lily Allen – No Shame
Nadine Shah – Holiday Destination
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds – Who Built The Moon?
Novelist – Novelist Guy
Sons Of Kemet – Your Queen Is A Reptile
Wolf Alice – Visions Of A Life
