Nines, Mahalia And J Hus Lead The Nominations For This Year's Virtual MOBO Awards

November 25, 2020

Updated on December 10: The winners can be found in bold at the bottom.

The prestigious MOBO Awards makes its return to our screens on December 9 following a three-year absence. Founded by British-Ghanaian Kanya King in 1996, the MOBOs have provided vital recognition for Black artists and genres often disenfranchised from mainstream award platforms.

The 2020 MOBO Awards will be hosted by Bristol-born presenter Maya Jama and YouTube sensation, musician and personality Chunkz, who incidentally has been nominated for the Best Media Personality award.

This year's revamped MOBOs also includes new award categories for actors, media personalities and producers recognising talents across various mediums previously not given a platform — a change made after the MOBOs were criticised for restrictive categories and giving awards to too many mainstream acts who didn't fit the ethos.

On the night, top artists will grace the MOBOs stage including Headie One, M Huncho, Ms Banks, Kojey Radical and Tiwa Savage, with more artists still to be confirmed. Despite COVID-19 regulations, it promises to be another fantastic night where we celebrate emerging and established talent from across the globe.

The awards show will be streamed on YouTube at 7pm, followed by a full broadcast on BBC One at 10.45pm and a highlights special available on BBC iPlayer the same night. BBC Sounds will also be providing supporting content.

Voting is now open. Below is the full list of nominees.
