Nia Archives Examines Her Body Image Issues On Deeply Personal "Luv Like"

February 04, 2022

DIY producer, visual artist, and singer-songwriter Nia Archives has been pegged as one to watch by pretty much everyone this year and on her latest single "Luv Like" she shows us exactly why.

Nia is notorious for splicing together her silk-textured vocals over a bed of lo-fi jungle rhythms, creating an unreplicable sound that is completely her own. Over this particular groove-ridden production, Nia tackles the subject of body dysmorphia and expresses her own experiences with her body image and confidence.

For the hallucinogenic, vintage-style visuals, Nia teams up with Delphino Productions to take us back to her hometown of Manchester where she first fell in love with the rave culture that's ingrained in her sound.

Revealing more about the track's meaning, Nia comments: "Although at first listen this track sounds like a typical love song, for me, when creating it I was writing about my personal struggle with body dysmorphia. Throughout the track I am pondering how someone could love someone through their highs and lows, loving freely flaws 'n all. I am also talking about learning to accept love whilst ultimately dealing with a warped perception of self and distorted self-image."

"Luv Like" is expected to appear on her upcoming EP Forbidden Feelingz, arriving March 10.
