Nia Archives has just revealed her new album, Emotional Junglist.

The new album marks a new chapter for the DJ, producer and singer. Although the dance floor is still very much at the heart of the new LP, Emotional Junglist puts an even greater emphasis on melody and songwriting,

As the title suggests, there's a vulnerability to this album that's even more pronounced than before. The bittersweet quality has always been present in her vocals, it's what first set here apart, but on tracks like "Tender" with Sampha and "Almost Always", that angstiness is dialled right up.

It also sees her widen her scope, drawing greater influence from her love of indie pop alongside the R&B that's always been there. In fact, alongside features from Sampha and Jorja Smith, the album also features songwriting contributions from David Byrne collaborator Ethan P. Flynn and Sabrina Carpenter collaborator Julia Michaels, as well as production from James Ford whose previous credits include work with Blur and Arctic Monkeys.

Speaking on the album, Nia shares: "To be an Emotional Junglist is to feel everything and nothing all at once. It's to be calm yet chaotic, sane yet manic—up, down and sideways. The emotional spectrum I experience is vast, and I think this album reflects that depth completely. Being in your mid-20s, you're figuring out who you are, exploring your sexuality… I think people kind of get stuck in girlhood, but really and truly, I'm 26 and I feel like I'm entering womanhood."
