South East London Rhymer N8tive Channels A Craig Mack Classic In "Flava" Video

N8tive has made quite the splash with his latest drop, "Flava". The single is solid gold '90s hip-hop reshaped for today's audience, with the Jaykebeats-produced beat consisting of a chunky boom-bap drum pattern, a sample from the late Craig Mack's 1992 smash hit "Flava In Ya Ear", and an Afro-inspired edge.

It takes a lot of charisma and lyrical skill to take on such an iconic beat, but luckily N8tive has both traits in spades. The South East Londoner sounds oh-so-comfortable on the beat—coming off insightful at times and playfully cocky elsewhere.

The video, directed by Nizar Shad, takes inspiration from Craig Mack's 'In Ya Ear Remix', but as with the song itself, N8tive's character shines through.

Speaking on the track itself, N8tive says: "'Flava" is a song that represents the diverse cultures that have influenced my sound. It fuses an iconic American sample, with a hard-hitting African-inspired beat pattern merged in with my British vibe. I wanted to make sure I did the sample justice and leave my own imprint on the song. 'Flava' symbolises the love and respect I have for music, but also shows my intention to evolve what was given to us by the ones before us."

It's a grand entrance and, we're told, there's much more on the way. Get familiar with N8tive below.
