Mr. Mitch's "Did We Say Goodbye" Poignantly Recounts The Pre-Pandemic Days Of Clubbing

February 10, 2021

Ahead of his new album, Lazy (which is due March 5), Mr. Mitch is back to offer a nostalgic trip through memory lane, down the sticky alcohol ridden steps into a rave like old times in "Did We Say Goodbye". It's no secret that the closing of clubs has impacted artists, but it's also affected club revellers who all miss the culture of having fun, and letting loose. In short, they miss living.

"Did We Say Goodbye" is supported by a somewhat eerie, guitar-led instrumental, interwoven with lonely synths that allude to the emptiness the various lockdowns have brought. Even the title, "Did We Say Goodbye", is unnerving, a reminder of how the dancefloor was violentlysnatched from our consciousness by COVID-19, without any time to process the blow.

The Gobstopper boss recently asked his Twitter followers what they missed most about clubbing, and the responses neatly displayed within the music video are highly relatable. Ranging from being the first in the club while the DJ gets up to speed to glancing toward another when at the bar trying to sober up. It's these aspects of clubbing that pass with insignificance during the moment, but can only be truly appreciated now they're gone.

Let's hope that we are back clubbing again soon. Check out "Did We Say Goodbye" below.
