Motive105 Ties Up Loose Ends With Poetic "Introduction: Part Two"

December 13, 2021

North London's Motive105 first introduced his reflective, straight-to-the-point style of rap back in January with "Introduction: Part One", which appeared on his debut project The Drive Downtown: Part One. He now closes the year with follow-up narrative "Introduction: Part Two", where he takes us through the turmoil he's faced over the past year and the brighter days that followed.

Produced by Selasi Ayettey, the track opens with a thought-provoking parable before Motive begins his stream of consciousness spitting, reflecting on how hard he worked on himself to get where he is today. From there the production shifts from the trap drums and pounding 808s to a mellow, piano lead section as Motive widens his focus to the importance of family and community.

"Introduction: Part Two" lands with a set of stylised visuals, also split into two acts to match the narrative he pieces together. Directed by frequent collaborator Timothy Ogu, Motive is captured in high-fashion outfits and glamorous cars, which he soon ditches for a simple tracksuit as he takes us back to the area that raised him—showing he's always connected to his roots.

The North London native is said to have another project on the way, titled The Drive Downtown: Part II, but before that, settle into "Introduction: Part Two" below.
