Milli Major Unveils Debut Short Film 'Major Paper' And New Single "Drillers"

July 27, 2020

Teaming up with Bossman Birdie, Paper Pabs and Nines, Milli Major is back with a new track — "Drillers" — as well as news that his first ever short film has just dropped. Major Paper, which features "Drillers" in its soundtrack, sees Milli make his writing, acting and directorial debut.

Spitting street talk over AJ Beats' searing drill instrumental, Milli, Bossman and Pabs take turns decimating their verses with their uniquely punchy flows topped off with a smooth intro from Nines. The visuals keep it straight to the point, mixing shots of the three rappers performing the track with scenes of them kicking back and enjoying the fruits of their labour in the studio.

"I wanted to portray the harsh realities of inner-city London life," Milli said of Major Paper. "These are situations that many of us live through on a daily basis and more often than not, there isn't a happy ending. I have independently created the film and curated the music to accompany it, in order to put my energy in to something bigger than me, something positive and something progressive.

My message with 'Major Paper' is to highlight some of the incredible talent — actors, directors, musicians and crew — that are within our communities in the hope that film and arts councils start to invest further in us and we don't have to continue to hustle to do everything ourselves. I hope my work inspires someone else from the streets to focus on their art and culture as without this inspiration, hope and support, there will never be any happy endings."

Major Paper is out now exclusively on Nines' YouTube channel.
