Nottingham's finest Mez has seized our attention with his latest project Vol.1, released via Bandcamp.

Mez is spot on with this release where he's handpicked a number of guest features form the likes of Frisco, P Money, Hitman Hyper, Ace1, and Badness. The production channels the nostalgic feeling of old-school grime but experiments with some progressive elements to give himself a unique sonic playground. His free-form cadence allows him to pack plenty of bars into a short timeframe, even letting off some well-crafted, melodic hooks.

It wouldn't be right to only highlight a few tracks on the tape but some standout moments include "Sauvignon Blanc" for its subtle blends of drill to cushion Mez's storytelling and opener "Grinding" and it's clever allusions to the Clipse anthem. From the musicality to the chemistry displayed between the guest features, MezTape Vol.1 is one for the books.
