Meridian Crew Reunite For Monumental "Man In Meridian"

October 04, 2021

After years of shelling individually and elevating the UK grime space, five members of Meridian Crew reconnect for the reflective track "Man In Meridian".

Over woozy electronic sounds and classic grime percussion and bass, Jme, President T, Bossman Birdie, Big H and Paper Pabs rise to the spotlight to deliver their golden bars and remind us of how untouchable Meridian Crew were.

The track samples the original "Man In Meridian" freestyle, which was recorded back in the early 2000s during a pirate radio set, breathing new life into a special moment from all those years ago.

Playing on the themes of nostalgia, the visuals feature archive footage filmed by Risky Roadz, which is paired with clips of young boys recreating the bars of the track.

Speaking on the release, Bossman Birdie says, "'Man In Meridian' is one of the most important grime tracks to come out of the genre to date. It’s the essence of the culture and the first time you get to hear 90% of Meridian together swinging it out on the same record. With everyone locked into their own solo endeavours, it was a madness getting the verses over the line. But we all wanted to give the fans something sick for the support over the years. This is the start of some much-needed fire to come from this legendary collective."
