Jazz Drummer MckNasty Lifts The Lid On Long Overdue Debut Album 'As Things Grow'

June 24, 2021

In 2019, MckNasty made his solo debut with "Brass Man", which, as you might have guessed, paired his galloping percussion with a high-energy brass melody. Two years later and he's just dropped off his debut full-length, As Things Grow — but he's by no means a newcomer.

An accomplished musician whose stacked CV includes work with Wretch 32, Lily Allen, Jamelia, Tinie Tempah and many, many more, he's used his extensive contact list to call in contributions from Kojey Radical, Laudable, The Mac SiStars, MPHO The GVN, and Pastor Steve Gardener.

The culmination of years of work as a drummer and then as a musical director for various artists, As Things Grow came because, he says, "I'm at the stage where I want to create something for myself". Bursting with enthusiasm and wild-eyed energy, it feels like the whole album has been pent up inside him for years, dying to get out — and the satisfaction is palpable.
