Mabel's 'Ivy To Roses' Mixtape Is A Lesson In R&B Hooks

October 16, 2017

By now, we're all pretty familiar with Mabel's super infectious and super bouncy "Finders Keepers" collab with Kojo Funds, a track with 'breakout success' slapped all over it. That track cropped up a little while ago, and now we've got the mixtape that birthed the track in the first place, Ivy To Roses. "Low Key" packs the same kind of chart-busting quality that drew us to "Finders Keepers", meanwhile on the nine-track mixtape there's a cover of "Passionfruit" and a remix version of "Finders Keepers" with Burna Boy and Don-E.

Despite its brevity, the tape packs plenty of highlights—at least half of the nine tracks are worthy of their own videos—and the Burna Boy and Don-E remix gives a surprising edge to a track we thought we already knew. Listen to Ivy To Roses after the jump.
