Lu.Re's 2-Step Jazz EP 'Ruminate' Is The Lifeline We Never Knew We Needed

June 01, 2022

London-based DJ, producer, and singer-songwriter Lu.Re continues to mesmerise with her gorgeous mixtures of UKG and jazz. Her latest release, Ruminate, throws us into a whirl of cloud-surfing daydreams, pushed forward by funky UKG rhythms.

Through ethereal and comforting vocals, she faces her innermost thoughts and explores her OCD diagnosis, offering light to those who may relate to those feelings. Over a neat snare and kick drum combination, Lu.Re's jazzy piano melodies complement her tender vocals. The project is as introspective as it is packed with club-ready bangers.

Speaking on Ruminate, Lu.Re says: "I'm a big over-thinker and when I was writing the EP I was dealing with a lot of anxiety. I had no idea what I was experiencing was OCD because it wasn’t washing hands, it was mental compulsions for me—rumination. The EP was already written when I understood what was going on with some help from the NHS, so looking back it’s a bit wild it came out so blatantly as Ruminate. I hope it can bring some light to others."

While there are no misses across the five tracks, opener "Hold On", "Nostalgia", and "These Days" are some of the key highlights on the EP. Get into it below.
