South London rapper Loyle Carner returns to his well of emotionally-wrought rhymes and pressing questions on his keenly-awaited 10-track album hugo.

Kwes.'s cinematic production accompanies Carner as he dissects thoughts on legacy, fatherhood, cultural and familial roots and attempts to navigate the blurry landscapes of the future. The previously released "Hate", "Nobody Knows (Ladas Road)" and "Georgetown" open the project, the latter introducing the poetic musings of Afro-Guyanese playwright John Agard before breaking into more of the album's vintage hip-hop sounds.

As we cross the halfway mark, we venture into gorgeous neo-soul territories on "Homerton" with JNR WILLIAMS and Olivia Dean before Alfa Mist delivers a stunning instrumental performance on "Plastic". Meanwhile, Wesley Joseph and activist Athian Akec arrive on "Blood On My Nikes" speaking on the crippling impact of knife crime on the lives of young people.

hugo arrives after Carner's first two albums Yesterday's Gone and Not Waving, But Drowning, continuing his thought-provoking self-inquiry which you can dive into below.
