Lil Silva Drops Off Final 'Yesterday Is Heavy' Primer With "To The Floor" f/ BADBADNOTGOOD

July 11, 2022

In the build up to his keenly-awaited project Yesterday Is Heavy, Lil Silva has teased a number of stunning, genreless tracks for us to bask in. So far he's connected with frequent collaborator Sampha on "Backwards", has released "Another Sketch", "Leave It" and "What If?" featuring Charlotte Day Wilson and Skiifall respectively. Now he's handed over another sweet treat in the form of "To The Floor" featuring Toronto-based jazz ensemble BADBADNOTGOOD with some additional assistance from London musician Mansur Brown.

Unsurprisingly, the track is unlike anything we've heard from Lil Silva in the past as he continues to reinvent his sounds with deep roots in UK funky, grime, and reggae. This time around he experiments with some hip-hop and jazz elements over off-beat rhythms and ghostly vocal samples. He packs a lot into the three-minute runtime, dipping into different sections without stealing focus away from the live instrumentation of BADBADNOTGOOD.

Ahead of the release of Yesterday Is Heavy this Friday, July 15, press play on "To The Floor" below.
